SARDINIA

In D H Lawrence;s travel log "Sea and Sardinia" he wrote that "Sardinia was left outside of time and history".  Indeed the march of time has been slow here, and traditions from ancient Europe have survived - the legacy of invasion by Phoenicians, Carthaginias, Romans, Arabs, Byzantines, Spaniards.  A long legacy of architecture throughout the island.

The beautiful renowned coastline of the Costa Smeralda lies in the North East of the island, with its crystal-clear turquoise water, pristine beaches, untouched nature and stunning architecture, to designer boutiques, world-class restaurants, international jet set  and exciting nightlife.   the sheltered harbour of Porto Cervo is packed with upmarket restaurants and cocktail bars, luxury spas and designer boutiques such as Bulgari and Louis Vuitton. You can get up close to the super yachts when they come in to Porto Cervo in the evening.   For snorkeling take a trip around the archipelago Della Maddalena   from Porto Palau.

Warm weather arrives as early as April and temperatures regularly hit highs of 24 deg. C   Off season  getaways are becoming increasingly popular in Sardinia.   For those who want to avoid the crowds (and high prices) of July and August, an off-peak break is the ideal way to discover the charms of this beautiful region.  For Costa Smeralda flying into Olbia airport
